The Ultrasonic presence detector DualTech also commonly known as the Dual Tech Occupancy Sensor is very ideally suited for offices, conference rooms and class rooms where the occupant envisages a sedentary work pattern with negligible physical movement. The Dual Technology Sensor is known by many names depending on the geography where they are used. In the US for example where it found its origins, it is known as the Dual Tech Sensor or the Dual Tech Presence Detector where as in other geographies it is called the Dual Tech Motion Sensor. Essentially it is a combination of the Infrared Technology along with Ultrasonic Sensing or the Microwave Technology. Some manufacturers offer this as PIR with Acoustics Sensing.
The Steinel Dual Technology Occupancy Sensor has a. 36 m². presence zone and the initial detection is always captured by the Pyro Sensors which is then sustained by the ultrasonic technology. This apparently provides reliable detection behind objects regardless of temperature and blind spots associated with a pure Infrared Sensor.
This Dual Tech Occupancy Sensor instantaneously Turns on and off the lighting loads automatically after it detects human movement and the appropriate ambient light levels through an integrated photodiode resistor. It has a 360° angle of coverage for a 6m x 6m fine detection zone with a unique 40 KHz ultrasonic sensor along with a Passive Infrared Sensor to ensure sustained lighting operation during occupation.
